Intrapartum Antibiotics
Intrapartum antibiotics should be offered to all women/birthing people with a pregnancy of less than 37 weeks to help prevent early-onset Group B Streptococcus (GBS) infection, whether or not spontaneous rupture of membranes (SROM) has occurred. This helps to reduce the risk of severe or potentially fatal infection in newborns if GBS is transmitted during labour.
